CIS 145

Module 1 Summary:

After reading Module 1, I realized that a lot of the information in browser basics was knowledge I already gathered from learning to use the internet at a young age. I’ve been using Google Chrome for years, so many of the concepts came naturally to me. I remember learning how to apply a theme to Google when I was around 8 years old. It’s interesting and gives me a feeling of nostalgia looking back at how much of the internet I’ve been familiar with for so long.

One thing that was new to me was the difference between “internet” with a lowercase "i" and “Internet” with an uppercase "I." I didn’t know that the lowercase is used when talking about networks connecting with each other, while the uppercase is for the specific global network that connects computers worldwide. That distinction cleared up something I hadn’t thought about before.

I also learned about the omnibox in Chrome, which can be utilized for calculations—something that could be useful when multitasking. I remembered using some of these features when I was younger, but it was interesting to revisit them now.

Even though a lot of the chapter felt familiar, it reminded me of how much of the internet’s functionality just became second nature over time. Overall, it made me appreciate how much I’ve grown with technology.
