CIS 145
Module 2 Summary
In Module 2, I learned how emails are processed through actual mail servers, which was new information for me. It was interesting to see how email functions similarly to the postal service, where the sender submits an email to a server, and the recipient requests that email from their own network. I hadn’t thought of the connection before, but it makes sense now.
One thing that stood out to me was learning the term "emoticon" for expressions made using characters. I found it a little strange, but it’s funny how something so common still has formal terminology.
The module mainly focused on email etiquette, which I’m already familiar with from years of using the internet. A lot of it was reminders of things I’ve already been doing, like sending emails or uploading files to Google Drive. However, I found it interesting that there are legal repercussions for sending spam mail. Although, given how much spam is out there, it seems like it would be difficult to actually enforce.
