Module 5 Summary
After reading through Module 5, I found push technology interesting, especially since it reminds me that there really isn’t any true privacy in tech. It’s wild to think about how much of our data is constantly being pushed around. I also learned about aggregators, which basically let you create your own personal version of the internet. You get to pick and choose what information you want to follow and consume, and it makes browsing more efficient. I didn’t realize that APIs are what allow different platforms to share information and work together behind the scenes, which is pretty impressive. Mashups take it even further, pulling pieces from different places to create new services, making life easier for users. A part of the module dives into Web 2.0, explaining how the web has evolved to serve all sorts of purposes. But the web can feel like a double-edged sword. What you share online can have both positive and negative impacts, especially when it comes to privacy concerns. Information spreads so fast on the internet, and it’s a real reminder that your digital footprint is always there. The biggest takeaway for me is to be mindful of your digital footprint and recognize just how much control you really have on the web.
